The vertical log splitter LANCMAN STX 17 MULTISPEED is a powerful model designed for demanding users who require higher splitting force and advanced automatic speed control.
With a splitting force of 17 tons, it reliably splits logs up to Ø 70 cm and 117 cm in length.
The main advantage of the MULTISPEED system is automatic adjustment of splitting speed according to load:
At lower loads, the splitter works faster
At higher loads, it automatically switches to a slower mode for maximum power
Available in different drive versions:
C GP – PTO drive with cast iron pump (higher oil volume for faster performance)
EL – electric motor
C+EL – combined drive (PTO + electric)
Optionally, the XTREMSPEED system (for the EL version) enables up to 50% faster operation.
The vertical design allows for comfortable log handling, while the stable construction and strong hydraulic system ensure reliable performance even under heavy loads.
Built-in safety features according to EN standards guarantee safe operation in all conditions.

The tonnage rating indicates the maximum force that the hydraulic cylinder can generate during splitting. The wedge (axe) presses directly onto the log and splits it. For the splitter to reach its full force, the wedge must be braced against a solid, fixed stop, which allows the hydraulic pressure to be converted into actual splitting force.
Technically, the force of a splitter is measured in kiloNewtons (kN). Example:
1 kN = approximately 0.102 tons of force
200 kN ≈ 20 tons of force
This means that a 20-ton rating corresponds to about 200 kN of pressure exerted by the wedge on the log. The actual force applied, however, is proportional to the resistance of the wood – softer logs require less pressure, while harder or knotty logs require more.
