The vertical log splitter LANCMAN STX 17 is designed for users who need higher splitting force and professional performance in firewood preparation.
With a splitting force of 17 tons, it easily splits even larger and harder logs up to Ø 70 cm and 117 cm in length.
It is available in different drive versions:
C – powered by tractor PTO
EL – electric drive
C+EL – combined drive (PTO + electric) for maximum flexibility
The splitter is equipped with two splitting speeds controlled manually, allowing adjustment according to the hardness and size of the logs.
Optionally, it can be fitted with the MULTISPEED system for even more efficient work.
For the electric version, the XTREMSPEED system can be installed, increasing splitting speed by up to 50%.
The vertical design enables comfortable log handling and splitting of longer pieces.
A robust construction ensures stability, while the hydraulic system guarantees reliable and safe operation.
The splitter is equipped with safety features according to EN standards, ensuring safe use in professional environments.

The tonnage rating indicates the maximum force that the hydraulic cylinder can generate during splitting. The wedge (axe) presses directly onto the log and splits it. For the splitter to reach its full force, the wedge must be braced against a solid, fixed stop, which allows the hydraulic pressure to be converted into actual splitting force.
Technically, the force of a splitter is measured in kiloNewtons (kN). Example:
1 kN = approximately 0.102 tons of force
200 kN ≈ 20 tons of force
This means that a 20-ton rating corresponds to about 200 kN of pressure exerted by the wedge on the log. The actual force applied, however, is proportional to the resistance of the wood – softer logs require less pressure, while harder or knotty logs require more.
